Research exploring the historical and contemporary role of traditional healing practices in global mental health. This includes a critical evaluation of techniques, contextualising traditional healing methods within the broader historical, economic, social, and political contexts of global mental health care.
2. Holistic Exploration of Wellbeing and Wellness
Research regarding how cultural values and social contexts shape understandings and experiences of wellbeing and wellness, exploring both collectivistic and individualistic perspectives. This also encompasses the development and refinement of systems for characterising and measuring positive mental health, going beyond the mere absence of disorder.
3. Culturally-Focused Mental Health Care
Studies examining the rich heritage of indigenous psychologies, including their philosophical and psychological underpinnings, and their applicability to contemporary mental health care. This includes work addressing community-based mental health care, understanding the distinct mental health needs and challenges
4. Positive Psychology and Collective Wellbeing and Wellness
Research examining the implementation of positive psychology principles and interventions in fostering mental health and wellbeing. This includes research into how cultural practices and traditions that prioritise collective values and social interconnectedness contribute to wellbeing and wellness.
Article Types

● Review articles: Critical synthesis and evaluation of existing literature on a specific topic relevant to the journal's key themes.
● Systematic reviews or Meta-analyses: Systematic reviews and statistical synthesis of findings from
multiple studies on the efficacy or impact of traditional healing interventions for mental health.
● Conceptual papers: Development of new conceptual models or frameworks that explore the interplay of
culture and mental health
● Methodological Articles: Development and evaluation of research methods within a specific cultural
context or with a multicultural lens.
● Case studies: In-depth analyses of specific situations that illustrate the interplay between traditional
healing and mental health within a specific cultural context.
● Book Reviews: Critical appraisals of recently published books relevant to the journal's focus
● Commentaries: Short, insightful pieces that offer critical reflections, perspectives, or debates on current

Article Processing Charge
The journal does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APCs) to authors for the publication of their research.
