CALL FOR PAPERS FOR JULY-DECEMBER 2026 ISSUE
The Journal and Publication Society of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) invites submissions for the 28th issue (Vol.15, No.2) of the Christ University Law Journal (July -December 2026), based on the theme Constitutional Governance in the 21st Century.
Constitutional governance in the 21st century is at a critical crossroad across the world, shaped by evolving democratic expectations, emerging dimensions of constitutional rights, technological advancements, and complex socio-economic challenges. Constitutions, once viewed as static legal instruments are increasingly understood as dynamic instruments that respond to the various changing realities. This further raises critical questions related to the reflexiveness of constitutional principles such as rule of law, separation of powers, accountability, judicial review and protection of rights in responding to and addressing the contemporary challenges confronting them.
Constitutional governance also faces unprecedented challenges in relation to expansionist approaches of executive authorities over every aspect of civil life as well as independence of judiciary. In a pluralistic society , this even poses questions of federalism, social justice and constitutional morality. Political unrest and diverse social movements in constitutional democracies ranging from demanding protection of digital freedom to environmental safeguards also call for a thorough understanding on the basis of social movements rooted in constitutional questions. In this context, this thematic issue encourages critical interdisciplinary engagements on the evolving nature of constitutional governance in the 21st century. Contributions may explore theoretical foundations, judicial trends, institutional practices and comparative perspectives that reflect how constitutional systems across nations adapt to contemporary challenges.
