Authorship

Criteria for Authorship

To ensure scientific transparency and accountability, CU Journal of Nonlinear Fluid Mechanics adheres strictly to international guidelines regarding authorship attribution. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions across all four of the following requirements:

Conceptualisation, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing - Original draft, Writing - Review & Editing, Visualisation, Supervision, Project administration, Funding acquisition.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

Authors must designate a single Corresponding Author to handle all official communications with the journal throughout the editorial and peer-review process. The corresponding author submits the manuscript, provides all required documentation, and acts as the primary contact between the journal and the co-authors. Contact details for the corresponding author must remain accurate and up to date. For Diamond Open Access agreements, institutional memberships, or publishing permissions, only the corresponding author’s primary affiliation is used to determine eligibility. Affiliations of other co-authors are not considered for these administrative determinations.

Group & Consortium Authorship

Group authorship refers to the attribution of a manuscript to a defined and named group of contributors, such as research consortia, collaborative computational networks, task forces, or working groups.

  • Group authorship must be declared on the title page upon submission and entered under "Collaborative Author Groups" in the submission portal.
  • A single corresponding author must be appointed to coordinate all editorial communications on behalf of the group.
  • The official group name will appear in the main author list of the published article (e.g., "on behalf of the [Consortium Name]"). All individual members associated with the work must be listed in a dedicated appendix or section.
  • All listed group members must adhere to the journal's standard authorship criteria. The group must maintain a transparent internal procedure for determining authorship and resolving internal disagreements. All authorship disputes must be resolved within the group before submission.

Changes to Authorship

The editorial board expects author lists and author order to be finalized prior to initial submission.

  • Changes to the author list (additions, deletions, or rearrangements) are considered only prior to manuscript acceptance and require formal editorial approval. The corresponding author must submit an official Authorship Change Request Form detailing the reason for the change, accompanied by written confirmation from all authors (including those being added or removed) confirming their agreement.
  • The journal strictly prohibits any changes to authorship after a manuscript has been accepted. This includes additions, deletions, reordering, or changes to the designated corresponding author.
  • Peer review or production processing may be paused while an authorship change request is being evaluated. Authorship modifications attempted without formal editor approval or standard request forms may result in immediate manuscript rejection or retraction of a published article.
