About the Journal

Artha Journal of Social Sciences is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal that seeks to facilitate empirical, critical, and in-depth inquiry on issues and concerns of the society at large. As a multidisciplinary social science journal, Artha has been published and financially supported by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), with an express focus on fostering research in academic landscapes of developing countries. Artha is open to all disciplines of the social sciences and encourages submissions with a specific focus on economics, history, sociology, psychology and political science. We solicit submissions from social science researchers, policy makers, practitioners, teachers, and students engaged in studies for improving human welfare.

The Sanskrit word artha means both wealth and meaning. The journal started in 2002 as a bi-annual, and has been published quarterly from 2012 onwards. New issues of the journal are published specifically in the months of March, June, September, and December of every year. Issues of this journal starting in December 2024 are published with grant-in-aid from the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
