Abstract

Abstract:

Sustainable Ecotourism and cultural tourism have been emerged as an integral part of the tourism industry, that enhances economic development, and cross-cultural understanding between people and countries, and protection of environment. Kudumbashree, an all-women Community based Organization in Kerala has introduced several programs to integrate cultural heritage of the State with Tourism sector, which in turn provides livelihood to thousands of women and to empower the local communities. This paper is an enquiry into the role of Kudumbashree in the promotion of Eco- tourism and cultural tourism in Kerala State, and its implications.
